Today, I’m challenged by a website to write a poem that features repetition.
When
I remember saying that
when I get older,
I would be cool,
That my nerdiness was just a phase
of impermanence that I had to
get through.
I remember saying that
when I get older,
I would eat pizza everyday,
Which would be easy because
nobody would be able to
stop me.
When I get older,
I remember thinking I would be
Freer,
Less dependent.
I’ve gotten older,
But ever since I have,
I’ve realized I’m no longer bound,
By the limits of my
imagination,
But by the damage society has plundered onto
the Earth.
