Because I don’t automatically agree with what you have to say.
Listen:
Don’t defy instantaneously.
Let silence linger in the air and
take a moment.
Consolidate your emotions to form coherent thoughts
But listen:
For it is only in listening,
And processing information
Do you understand a chink to exploit,
Or rationale to rebut.
And it is only then that you can convince
For without the ability to convince,
Authority and influence are
Balloons floating in the air
Without any wind.
